This season’s final episode was kind of calm and quiet compared to the other ones. But of course it didn’t fail to get us hyped for the next episodes and to give us a great finale for this third season.
The episode started with the council talking about the most important part of the discoveries they made and whether they should tell the rest of the people inside the walls. And I think they made the best decision by giving the people back the memories that their king took away from them. Unfortunately, we only got to see one brief moment of their reactions while some kind of reporter was talking with Hange and Levi and apparently a lot of them didn’t handle it well.
The scene we got after this wasn’t really expected. Right before the Queen started giving the medals to the Survey Corps, Floch had to tell the brutal truth about Marlo to Hitch. It’s been a while that we haven’t seen Hitch in Attack on Titan and this appearance of hers was unexpected. But it was crucial since it got Floch to give a piece of his mind about Levi’s choice. Right when we thought that they were over it and that we won’t hear about it again, he had to make Armin miserable and pick a fight with Eren. We can see just from these first scenes the impact of everything that happened so far on different people and the importance that all of this will have in the next season.
The ceremony then started and Historia began giving the medals. It was pretty much the first time that we saw Historia wearing a queen’s outfit and we can absolutely say that she was stunning. The whole animation in this scene was great, as she was giving those medals to the Survey Corps with Eren’s voice in the background just overthinking everything as usual. When his turn comes, he sees some of his father’s memories, again. This probably means that we should expect these images to pop up a lot from now on since Eren will most likely go to more and more places where his father has got memories. But is it really a good thing for the poor Eren?
After all of that was settled, things started to speed up and here they were showing us the progress and the evolution that happened within these walls in just a year. All of that thanks to the work of the Survey Corps. They not only enlightened people on what’s happening outside and the technology used there but also got rid of all of Wall Maria’s titans. We can also see how much Eren has grown and changed from his new hair style.
They also decided to go further behind the wall and what they first saw was the ocean. Everyone got so excited about it. There was a point in this season where we thought that all hope was lost and that that poor Armin will never get to realise his dream. But here they are now in front of a vast ocean, and their reaction was definitely priceless, especially Armin’s. Everybody was enjoying themselves and having fun in their own way of course! But Eren had to bring them back to reality, asking about the way they will get their freedom. Will they really have to kill the people behind the walls to be free? We will need to wait to get an answer to that! This final episode was just awesome and nobody can get through it without getting a bit emotional especially over the ocean part.
The next season will be the last one and we will have to wait until Fall 2020 to get new episodes. And even the trailer that was released for it only made us confused and hyped for this last season! These episodes were mind blowing so we can only expect things to get even better with Attack on Titan. Let’s wait and see!
